Subcutaneous injection

Sites, rotation, needle angle, and what ‘pinching a fold’ is actually for.

Sites

Abdomen at least 5 cm from the navel, front of thigh, or back of upper arm. Abdomen is the default for most peptides.

Rotate quadrants. Do not use a welted, bruised, or scarred spot. The log will suggest the next site.

The stick

Clean, pinch a fold of skin, insert 45–90° depending on subcutaneous thickness, inject slowly, wait a second, withdraw, and apply light pressure. Do not recap toward your hand.

Insulin syringes (29–31G, 6–13 mm) are appropriate for subq peptides. IM is a different needle and a different decision.
