How to reconstitute a vial

Bacteriostatic water, swirling, labeling, and the math that turns milligrams into units.

What you actually need

Lyophilized peptide vial, bacteriostatic water (BAC, 0.9% benzyl alcohol), insulin syringes (U-100), alcohol swabs, a sharps container, and a label.

BAC water lets you draw repeatedly from the same vial. Sterile water has no preservative — single use only.

The only formula that matters

Concentration (mcg/mL) = vial milligrams × 1000 ÷ mL of water.

Units to draw (U-100) = desired mcg ÷ (concentration mcg/mL / 100). On a U-100 syringe, 100 units = 1 mL.

Technique

Swab both stoppers. Draw BAC. Inject down the glass wall. Swirl — never shake. If it will not clear, discard.

Label peptide, mg/mL, and date. Refrigerate. Most research vials are treated as 4–6 weeks once mixed.
